Time to refocus

Yeah yeah yeah...I know its been a long time, but life is good and busy. The Syllamo 100 Miler was supposed to be this past weekend. The US Forest Service pulled the permit due to major sections of the trail still being damaged from a January ice storm. I would be lying if I said it wasn't a major kick in the nards. The past few weeks have seemed a bit aimless with regards to training.

However...a good mud run and a new goal seem to cure all. The trails at Erwin were awful this past weekend. There was a ton of really muddy sections. Rather than a fast paced training run, it turned into a much needed reminder of why I love this sport so very much. I was muddy, I had my best friends in tow and I hooped and hollered nearly the entire loop.

There will be a few adventures this Fall, but the focus has shifted to the Bandera 100K.

Rumor has it that a new wave of ultra runners will be dominating the Rockledge Rumble 50K. I am certain it will be a day to remember.

More posts to come...

What makes your heart go pitter patter?

You might have a trail running problem if you wake up to find the moonlight covering your stunningly beautiful wife and you think to yourself, "You know what I really like to do is spend the morning with some sweaty guys in short shorts." God Bless the spouses who love us.

Props props and more props

Ron Lambke is the man. Homeboy dominated the Pike's Peak marathon this past weekend in Colorado Springs. If I am not mistaken it is a 6,000 foot climb in 13 miles, then turn around and bomb downhill. Seriously big props. Rumor has it he tried to take out a rock carin.

My main men, Hamlin "Quagmire McConaughey" Jones and Eric "I lived in Colorado" Gabe crushed the annual birthday run a few weekends ago. 38 miles at Erwin Park. Everything after 9am was wicked hot. They even had a visit from captain chia seed Steve Freebairn who ran knocked out two laps, one of which was done in Vibrams.

You guys are all really big deals.

The kind of twilight I can get behind.

Tonight is the El Scorcho 50K in beautiful Ft. Worth. Things get cooking around midnight. It makes for an Epic day. Those are always good to have.

We had a great run with the Luke's Fit training group this morning. Pepsi and I put in 9 this morning. Tonight will be fun. I'll post pics and videos tomorrow.

For those of you dominating Erwin Park, keep it real and throw in a burpee for me.

Peace,
